Graduate School of Mechanical Engineering

History and background:

The Graduate program in Mechanical Engineering has been established in 2001, and offers the M.S. degree in mechanical engineering. Our goal is to develop state-of-the-art programs which are responsive to the needs of the mechanical industry, and which provide a fertile environment as a local research and design center. In 2004, this master program was promoted into Graduate School of Engineering and Technology.

The Special Development Features of the Program:

The research program places special emphasis on the area of precision manufacturing, mechatronics and plasma technology. Specific, practical application of the activities include: precision mold design, CAD/CAM/CAE, precision measurement and machining, robotics, intelligent control, motor control, heat transfer, cooling system design, and computational fluid dynamics.

Cultivation Objectives:

Given the current developments in today's industry, our department conducts research and instructional programs focus on the area of precision manufacturing and mechatronics. Therefore, several specialties are emphasized throughout the undergraduate program including: computer aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE), CNC machining, injection mold design, precision casting, precision measurement, hydro pneumatic control, programmable logic controller (PLC), microprocessor, sensors, and automatic control.

Development Features:

Our development activities are conducted in the following laboratories: 1.Manufacturing field: CAD/CAM/CAE laboratory, CNC laboratory, material testing laboratory, mechanical engineering workshop, precision casting laboratory, precision measurement laboratory, and inverse engineering laboratory.

2.Automatic control field: electronic and electromechanical laboratory, PLC laboratory, mechatronics integrity laboratory, sensors and control laboratory, pneumatics and hydraulics laboratory, and microprocessor laboratory.
